To begin the self-certification process, click on the applicable industry sector to the left to access the online application.
Currently, Maryland Green Travel is registering only Lodging properties.
Look for Maryland Green Travel to roll out applications for certification in other tourism industry sectors soon. Those sectors will include: attractions, campgrounds, convention centers, festivals/events, golf courses, marinas and restaurants, among others.

Becoming a Maryland Green Travel Partner is easy and membership in the program is FREE. Prospective partners must complete an application that indicates whether they are practicing certain basic environmental activities, relative to their segment of the tourism industry. Applicants are encouraged to go above and beyond the minimum requirements. They must also agree to steadily improve their environmental performance and to report on their progress annually.
4 steps to become a Maryland Green Travel Partner
Step 1: Meet core requirements
- Have an environmental policy statement
- Recycle and reduce waste
- Provide optional linen service (for lodging sector)
- Use water efficiently
- Conserve energy
- Have at least one measurable result
Step 2: Property information
Complete the form providing basic contact information.
Step 3: Checklist
Check off any activities that apply and provide other pertinent
information. The checklist includes links for guidance and
resources.
Step 4: Submit Application
Applications will be reviewed for completeness and accuracy and applicants will be notified about their approval status by e-mail. Maryland Green Travel Partners will be highlighted on the visitMaryland.org web site and included in the Maryland Green Registry. Applicants will also receive a Maryland Green Travel Partner logo to use in promotional materials and online listings.
