BALTIMORE (Jan. 4) – Whether planning a day trip or week-long vacation, the Maryland Calendar of Events will guide you through Maryland's annual events, fairs, festivals and commemorative celebrations. Comprehensive lists of welcome centers, county tourism contacts and farmers' markets are also included.

"This year brings added excitement, as we commemorate the significant contributions of Maryland to our nation's history. The eyes of the world will focus on Maryland as we launch the national bicentennial of the War of 1812 with the Star-Spangled Sailabration, a week-long maritime celebration featuring naval vessels and tall ships in June," said Gov. Martin O'Malley. "This year also marks the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Antietam, a historic turning point in the Civil War, which will crescendo with a large-scale re-enactment in September. There has never been a better time to explore our great state."

"The Maryland Calendar of Events is a great resource for travelers to Maryland with hundreds of events across the state. The once-in-a-lifetime anniversary events are highlighted with tinted blocks and skipjack icons," said Margot Amelia, executive director of the Maryland Office of Tourism. "Visitors are also encouraged to browse VisitMaryland.org as we update our calendar listings online in case of last-minute information.
